Stay Original

Let me talk to my younger friends today.

I saw a post online that said:

I naturally refrain from anyone who panders to the mob, plays to the gallery, or wants to be famous at all cost. They are NEVER original.” - Onayinka Olusegun

And I had to sit with that for a minute.

Because we’re living in a generation where being seen matters more than being substantial.
Where “aura” is currency.
Where popularity feels like purpose.
Where virality is mistaken for value.

And sadly…
Many young people are losing themselves while trying to gain everyone else’s approval.

................................

The Pressure to Perform

There’s a silent script floating in our culture:

“If you don’t fit in, exaggerate.
If you’re not noticed, do something shocking.
If people don’t clap, become someone they will clap for.”

Step by step…
Bit by bit…
You trade pieces of your identity just to be applauded.

You adjust your personality.
You mute your convictions.
You reinvent yourself depending on who’s watching.

Until one day you look in the mirror, and you’re not even sure what you believe anymore.

................................

But Here’s the TRUE Cost:

The crowd can hype you…
But the crowd cannot hold you.

The mob can make you famous…
But they cannot make you fulfilled.

Public approval can inflate your ego…
But it cannot build your identity.

When applause becomes your oxygen, you suffocate the moment people stop clapping.

................................

Why Does Originality Matter?

God didn’t create duplicates.
He created originals.

Your voice...one of one.
Your assignment...one of one.
Your wiring, experiences, strengths...one of one.

When you try to be what the culture wants, you abandon what God put in you.

And nobody pays a greater price for that than you.

Because God doesn’t anoint the version of you you pretend to be.
He anoints the one He made.

................................

Apostle Paul said something powerful in Romans 12 verse 2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed…

Conformity is external pressure.
Transformation is internal work.

Conformity bends you.
Transformation builds you.
Conformity wants you to blend in.
Transformation makes you stand out.

Jesus never blended in.
John the Baptist never blended in.
Daniel never blended in.
Esther never blended in.

None of them played to the gallery.
None of them adjusted their convictions to stay liked.

They stayed faithful to who God called them to be.

................................

To Every Young Person Trying to “Have Aura”…

You don’t need aura.
You need authenticity.

You don’t need to be trendy.
You need to be rooted.

You don’t need to impress the crowd.
You need to walk in purpose.

Because at the end of the day:

Popularity fades.
Trends expire.
Crowds shift.
Algorithms change.

But purpose…
Purpose stays.

And the version of you that God made...
the raw, honest, intentional version...
is more powerful, more impactful, and more beautiful than anything you could pretend to be.

................................

Stay Original

Be who God created.
Not who the crowd demands.
Not who the algorithm rewards.
Not who your environment pressures you to impersonate.

The world doesn’t need another copy.

The world needs the original you.
